HP Piracy Alive and Well

According to world wide estimates, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince sold more than 8.9 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale.

It only took 12 hours however, for the first electronic versions of the new book to begin appearing on the internet. Legal warnings have been sent to websites hosting these unauthorized copies. But according to Rowling's agent Christopher Little no lawsuits have yet been filed.

Rowling has never made a deal to publish her books in a downloadable format. Fans are warned to be aware of frauds and viruses.
